The fourth match of the Prem Ranjan tournament, between the freshies and the second years, commenced with HS18 winning the toss and electing to bowl. The first over saw CV bowling against the partnership of Sankar and Suraj. Sankar racked up a series of sixes and fours right at the beginning, bringing the run tally to 40 within just 3 overs.

The HS18 team slowly warmed up to the game, with some good bowling by Theja. Suraj hit a few sixes, despite Nitish’s good fielding. With a run tally of 80 in 6 overs, Suraj and Sankar proceeded to score a quick succession of sixes and fours in the last few overs, including a six that led to the ball going missing for a period of time, and a direct four which HS18 failed to block. The last two balls were ably blocked by Priya, but it did not affect the impressive score of 140 that HS17 amassed by the end of the innings, with neither of the original batsmen going off the pitch.
Accompanied by drumming from Anand, the second innings got off to a comparatively slower pace, with the opening batsmen Sandeep and Prantik scoring 8 runs, including a six by Sandeep, in the first over, before Sandeep being caught out by John. CV replaced him on the pitch, and gave the freshies an especially tense moment as the captain was caught out on his very first ball before it being declared a no ball. A few sixes were scored, before the game settled down into an easy yet uneventful rhythm. Prantik’s wicket fell, and he was replaced by Priya. Many sixes were narrowly missed in the next few overs, with HS18 maintaining a tally of 60 runs by the end of the sixth over. Ishan replaced Priya on the pitch after her wicket was taken, hitting a four in his first ball and then getting bowled out in the next. Nitish joined Vibhu on the pitch, with their partnership earning some good runs including two fours from Vibhu. It was not quite enough to overtake the total scored by HS17, however, and they came to the end of the match with a score of 74.
