the tree who fell down because of flowers

the tree fell down a few weeks ago.
people were intrigued
and went to look at its roots –
they declared
that the roots weren’t strong
enough to hold her upright.
but I know that
I had seen flowers, thousands of them, stars in the sky
which the tree hid under her leaves.
when she fell down,
I knew that the flowers
had become too many for her to nurture
and keep safe from the bats.
She fell down from the beautiful
weight of flowers.
the tree weeps silently, inaudible to the bats
who still peck at her flowers.
I am a plant,
a creeper,
who seldom flowers.
and she asks me to help her be the old tree again.
