The second and final phase of the Prem Ranjan Memorial Cricket Tournament commenced with the Freshie bunch taking on the fourth years. HS-14 captain Santhosh won the toss and elected to bat first.

The stage was set, the captain and Nityanshu came to open the innings for HS14. John Sabu Mathew was the opening bowler for the first years’. The second over produced a wicket off Suraj’s bowling with John taking the catch to dismiss Santhosh.  The third over was bowled by Indu, who went for some runs. The fourth over brought some cheer to the HS17 camp with their Captain Sankar taking the important wicket of Nityanshu who was looking dangerous. In came Aiswarya. The next over also produced a wicket with Suraj getting Monish clean bowled. HS17 was back in the game. What followed though was a massacre of sorts with the new batsman Biyas, who started hitting the ball to all corners of the Park with able support from Aiswarya and then Sukruth at the other end. At the 10 over mark, the 4th years had put up a massive 155 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

In return, the HS-17 opening pair of Baladitya and Sankar took the field. But Biyas, who had made a half-century in the first innings, managed to silence the full enthu freshie camp, scalping the wickets of both the openers within the first four balls of their innings. John departed in the fourth over, after producing some wonderful shots. In came Suraj, who looked steady in the middle, along with Indu until he was dismissed by  Santhosh. Aiswarya came onto bowl next and scalped Indu’s wicket. Manjith and Sharath produced some cheer in the HS17 batch playing some fiery shots, but by then the match was long over.

Despite their best efforts, the freshie team fell short after being comprehensively dominated in all three departments of the game by the fourth years. All credit to them, who put the loss in the first game behind them to display a brilliant team performance.
