She outlines her journey through Chennai and the IIT campus with humour, not a little exasperation, and a pervasive sense of wonder in “India Diary”. In Northern Kerala, temple traditions challenge familiar ideas of purity, devotion, and culinary orthodoxy. This sacred world is shaped by local ritual, culture, and everyday life. “Is God Vegetarian?” by Niranjana explores these lesser-known practices and asks us to rethink what and who gets to define the sacred. “We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition” – a world where Nikita Khrushchev’s “We shall bury you” once shocked nations, but however the threats posed by major powers today are increasingly met with silence and acquiescence.
