The first day of the Humanities Department Football tournament consisted of two matches – the first years vs. the third years and the fourth years vs. the PhD scholars. The games were held at Sangam ground.
The first match was between the first years and the third years, which started around 8.40pm. The first half of the match passed without much affair as neither team scored a goal. In the second half, Hari from the third year scored two goals in a span of two minutes putting the third years at a leading position of 2-0. Monish from the third year sealed the game by adding another goal, bringing the final tally to 3-0, thus clinching the match.
As the third years cleared the field, elated at their performance, the PhD scholars and the fourth years warmed up for the game that was to begin. The game started at 9:30pm and in the first half, neither of the teams managed to score a goal. The first goal was scored by Siddharth, 4th year, in the second half of the match. This was followed by an own goal by the PhD scholars and another brilliant goal by Siddharth. The fourth years won the match with the score 3-0.
